Library and Lab Access

The library and computer lab at 21 Magazine Street are staffed by a librarian Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 4:30. Student assistants work on some nights. ACBA students may access the library and lab 24/7.

The ACBA Library is an essential part of the instructional life at the American College of the Building Arts. The library is located on the second floor of the Old Charleston Jail. The library has an excellent collection of books, periodicals, newspapers, audiovisual materials, and computer resources available for student use. The library is committed to serving the students at ACBA.

Computerized library services include Internet accessible terminals, an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and wireless Internet access. Two online journal databases (JSTOR and the Home Improvement Collection) are available both on-and off-site by setting up a personal account.

The library has a professional librarian on staff to help students with their research needs. In addition to individual reference and research assistance, the library offers assistance in library research methods to various classes and offers library orientation sessions.

Other services include access to collections of books, periodicals, newspapers, DVDs/videos, and equipment; interlibrary loan borrowing privileges; photocopier and scanner use.

Meg Moughan, the ACBA librarian, is available to assist you in your research. She is usually in the library on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Meg is also available via the phone (843-577-5245 x1101) and email at Moughan@BuildingArtsCollege.us.
